Nintendo Co. on Thurs. said that the Wii video game console held total sales of 9.5 million units in the U.S. to date. The hardware, which sold 714,000 units in Apr., will likely meet or beat Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 total U.S. unit sales of 10 million in the next two months.

Online advertisers next week will descend on Seattle seeking signs of how Microsoft Corp. will compete online without buying Yahoo Inc. They will have to wait a bit longer. For two days starting Tuesday, Microsoft will hold an annual demonstration to online advertisers its tools and strategies for making them money on the Internet. In the past, the message of the event was that Microsoft was on track to be a viable competitor of Google Inc. Microsoft would detail how it planned to get there by investing in its own services for searching the Internet and brokering ads. Advertisers liked the idea of a big alternative to Google that could generate business from their online ads. Anticipation grew.

After the troubling suicide commited by a Missouri teenager due to an Internet related incident, state lawmakers voted and gave final approval yesterday to a bill which will deal with cyber-harassment. The bill is expected to cover several aspects of the new wave of technology, identifying as illegal the harassment from computers, text messages and many other electronic devices, besides the well known written and telephone communications.

According to the daily estimates released by the tracking company Box Office Mojo, “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” is leading the Friday box office with $19,300,000 in ticket sales. However, despite its good debut, “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” failed to surpass the first movie of the franchise “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe”, which earned $23 million during its first day of availability.
